Hi I am Clive. I am lucky enough to have my own office as you can see I am always busy helping run the place, keep an eye on the staff ensure they are tending to my every whim and that of the clients. Sarah with chooks
Veterinary Surgeon
Hello my name is Sarah, I was born in Ontario, Canada and brought up in Llandudno. From an early age I knew I wanted to be a vet and consequently went to the University of Liverpool and graduated in 2004. I set up Mochdre Vets in 2017 and could not be prouder how it has grown. My main interests lie in geriatric medicine and pain management and find it really fulfilling that we are able to help our furry friends now more than ever. I have worked in the Llandudno area for the last 13 years and further a field as a locum before that and also in January 2012 I volunteered at Romanian Underdogs Rescue .In 2022 I was able to organise for the team to volunteer in Malawi and have strong links with the BSPCA charity over there
Aside from being a veterinary surgeon, I am also a member of British Veterinary and Sports Medicine Association (BVRSMA) and the Association of British Veterinary Acupuncturists (ABVA). I am also a qualified hydrotherapist and since an accident where I tore my own ligament and practiced what I preached am currently undertaking some physiotherapy cpd.
I now live with my husband Lee and my furry family changes with the years. I currently have four rescue cats Fidget, Zippy, Loki and Grunt along with rescue dog Darla who we took from a Spanish kill shelter as a young dog and she has taught me a lot.
In updating my profile it is sad as when we opened the practice my models were Pedro and ‘Baked Potato’ Bert. Although I sadly don’t have them anymore they all feature on this web-site somewhere.
When I’m not working as a vet (ha ha!) I enjoy walking especially with dogs (see here for our doggie friendly recommendations and walks), travelling, cooking, growing my own veggies and have adopted chooks from BHWT and sell their eggs in the surgery sending the money back to BHWT.
Augustė
Veterinary Surgeon
Hello!
I’m Augustė and I graduated from Lithuanian University of Health Sciences in 2021. Since I was a little kid, I loved animals and wanted to help them in anyway that I could!
Even though I’m just a newly graduated vet, during my study years I did many internships in Portugal and Lithuania which helped me gain loads of skills that use today.
On my spare time I enjoy to hiking, swimming, reading books, travelling and exploring new places, spending my time with friends and family. I’m a big fan of a live music so don’t be surprised to see me dancing and singing at some concert!
Back at home I have a 11 year old charming prince named Odis. He is the cutest Yorkshire Terrier that we got as a Christmas present and who has been my “patient” and “study model” when I had to learn how to do bandages or clinical exam.
I’m really happy and grateful to be a part of this wonderful team at Mochdre vets.
Lowri
Veterinary Surgeon
Hi, I’m Lowri, Senior Vet at Mochdre Vets. I graduated from Glasgow University Vet School in 2002 and worked at PDSA and RSPCA hospitals in Birmingham for a few years which I loved. I moved back to North Wales to raise my family and worked in small animal practice along the North Wales coast. I have a keen interest in soft tissue surgery, transfusion medicine, anaesthesia and I love everything about cats. My cat Princess starred in the Welsh tv programme Cefn Gwlad when they filmed at the practice a few years ago!
Out of work I enjoy hill walking and beach walks with my Polar piglet, Pilates and horse riding when I can. I’m a fluent Welsh speaker so happy to chat in Welsh if you prefer.
Louise
Veterinary Surgeon
Hello! My name is Louise and I graduated as a veterinary surgeon from the University of Bristol in 2022. I am a dual American/British citizen (for anyone struggling to place the accent!) and have spent half of my life living in the USA. Before starting at Mochdre Vets, I lived in Alaska where I worked as a veterinarian in rural communities and spent the rest of my time racing sled dogs. So don’t be surprised if my consulting rooms run slightly cooler than others!
I am very passionate about behaviour and pain management and recently did a training course with the Western Veterinary Acupuncture Group. I am excited to now offer acupuncture and would love to talk to anyone who is interested about how it might benefit their four-legged companions.
When not at the clinic, I try to spend as much time as possible exploring this beautiful part of the world and it can usually be assumed that I am up a mountain following a delightfully hair-raising scramble. I also enjoy ocean swimming in the slightly warmer months and horse-riding.
I am excited to be part of the Mochdre team and look forward to meeting you and your pets!
Victoria
Veterinary Surgeon
Hi, my name is Victoria and I am one of the veterinary surgeons at Mochdre Vets. Originally from Kent, I have lived in a few different countries over the years with Bulgaria being where I obtained my veterinary degree, and met my partner Lawrence! I have to admit though; North Wales is where I feel most at home and I feel privileged to live here and work in such an amazing practice.
I have always had a soft spot for animals (big or small) and becoming a vet was my biggest dream. I have a particular interest in animal behaviour and orthopaedics, and would love to someday specialise in one of these fields!
I have a gorgeous dog named Kaylee and 2 horses, Manouche and Idaho. They are all my pride and joy and I couldn’t imagine my life without them. I absolutely adore sighthounds so don’t mind me if I have to come over and give your one a big cuddle and a boop on the nose!
Outside of work, I love walking, horse riding, singing (even if out of tune) and spending time with my family.
Lawrence
Veterinary Surgeon
Hello my name is Lawrence, I graduated as a veterinary surgeon from Trakia University in Bulgaria in 2023. I am born and bred in Sandwich, Kent (yes it’s a real place!) and moved to North Wales with my partner Victoria in February 2024 to start work here at Mochdre Vets.
I have wanted to be a vet for as long as I can remember, and before going to vet school I used to work on a dairy farm milking the cows and raising the calves. If you ask anyone they will tell you my favourite animal is a cow! I have an interest in internal medicine, dentistry, CT and have been lucky enough to do the vet visits for the Welsh Mountain Zoo since working at Mochdre vets.
At home I have a cat called Jess and a dog called Winnie who I rescued from Bulgaria during my studies, she was one of 10 animals that myself and Victoria fostered whilst we were studying. Unfortunately, I don’t have any pets of my own at the moment but I am confident this will be rectified very soon!
In my spare time I enjoy baking, swimming, clay-pigeon shooting, playing darts, playing golf and enjoy watching England win the odd rugby match!
Martin
Office Manager
Hello I’m Martin and I’m Clive’s assistant at Mochdre Vets. I gained an Economics degree from the University of Liverpool and worked for 8 years at a small Welsh manufacturing company before moving to Australia for a year. On my return to the UK I began work at a practice in the north west of England. I was there for 17 ½ years before joining the team here at Mochdre in May 2020.
I live in North Wales with my wife, our fox red Labradors Theo and Arlo and two cats Ebony and Robyn. In my time away from work I enjoy taking Theo for long walks on the beach, watching all kind of sport, listening to music and attending live concerts (in a vain attempt to cling on to my youth!).
Abigail
Head Nurse & Lead of CT Scanning
Hi I’m Abi and I’m the Head Nurse and Lead CT here at Mochdre Vets.
I qualified in 2016 and have worked in a variety of small animal practices including specialist exotics and referral hospitals. My areas of specific interest are diagnostic imaging (x-ray/CT), exotics and social visits.
In early 2023 I finally officially moved to North Wales from Stoke on Trent after 3 years of working up here! I’ve had a variety of exotics including various species of rat snake, bearded dragons, geckos and praying mantis but now I am down to a love/hate relationship with my Bibrons Gecko, Tina! I love her, she hates me!
In my spare time I enjoy DIY, cooking, relaxing, eating out and riding my motorbike.
Melody
RVN
Hi l’m Melody, and I’m a Registered Veterinary Nurse! I run the Puppy Parties here at Mochdre, as well as the social visits for the more nervous pets. I’m originally from Texas, but got married and moved here. I’ve loved animals as long as I can remember and at the age of 11, I started my own pet sitting business. Over the years I have continued my education and experience with animals by working as a qualified vet nurse in Texas and Australia (and now here in the UK!).
I would like to further my education in animal behaviour, as I really enjoy it. In my spare time I like to hang out with my husband Matt and my dog Benji (who is quite a hand full!).
I also like to read, and spend time outdoor either walking or soaking up the sun!
Nicola
RVN
Hi I’m Nicola and I’m a Registered Veterinary Nurse. I qualified from Harper Adams in 2019 and came to work as a new grad at Mochdre in 2020. My interests include surgical nursing, CT scanning and sighthounds! I was born and raised in North Wales and live with my two lurchers Cali and Loki and my horse Murphy. In my spare time, I enjoy horse riding, paddleboarding, hiking and run my own little art business.
Hannah, Shadow & Blondie
RVN & C-SQP
Hi, I’m Hannah
I graduated from Chester University with a degree in Animal Behaviour and Welfare and after completing this I didn’t really know what I wanted to do. So I applied for a job here in January 2020. After having an interview I was offered a job as an animal care assistant and this is where I found my passion for caring for animals. After a lot of persuasion, I decided to go back into education and train as a veterinary nurse at ChesterGates. After two years I’m proud to say that I am a Qualified RVN & a C-SQP. C-SQP means that I am a Suitably Qualified Person for companion animals and I can dispense certain types of medications and prescriptions to your pets. I love being a RVN and have a passion for weight management, and run the Porky Pet club. I create a bespoke nutrition plan for each individual animal.
In my spare time I enjoy keeping fit, so I can enjoy my second passion of eating food! I love travelling to new places with my Fiancé Dan and tasting food from different cultures. When I’m not travelling or going to the gym, I enjoy long walks with our Staffy- Shadow and cuddling up on the sofa with kitten – Blondie
Amy
Trainee Nurse
I’ve been working at Mochdre vets since 2020 as an Animal Care Assistant. I’m very excited to be making the transition from this role to become a Student Vet Nurse and work towards completing my qualification to become a Registered Veterinary Nurse, hopefully in 2024.
When I’m not in work I love being outdoors whether it’s in the mountains or on the water. especially with my two border collies who are also big outdoor enthusiasts!
I also dedicate some spare time to the local RNLI as a volunteer crew member.
Caroline
Head of Rehabilitation
Hi I’m Caroline and I have been working in the rehabilitation department since January 2021 and became head of rehab in September 2023. I am a Guild massage therapist, hydrotherapist and a CCA canine conditioning coach.
My passion for rehabilitation originated from Tess, my border collie who has sadly passed since updating my profile. She sustained an injury whilst on a search and I witnessed how important rehabilitation is to soft tissue injuries, neurological/orthopedic conditions and ongoing arthritic issues. I was a member of the Search and rescue dog association (SARDA) for 15 years and I also recognise the importance of canine conditioning and fitness combined with muscular health to help reduce the risk of injury and correct muscular imbalances.
My story is a little different to some, I had a career change in 2017 from an academic researcher running my own projects to following my passion to work in canine rehabilitation. I embarked on Natalie Lenton’s Canine Massage Practitioner Programme where in 2019 I completed my skills to a clinical level and became part of the Canine Massage Guild and started my own business. I was lucky enough to join the Mochdre rehab team and develop my skills further with Level 3 hydrotherapy and Canine Conditioning. This fulfilled a lifetime ambition of being able to rehabilitate and support dogs with ongoing conditions as well as working to try and prevent such injuries.
In my spare time I’m mainly outdoors and enjoy nothing better than a quiet mountain stomp!!
Esme
Physio and Hydrotherapist
Hi, I’m Esme, I have recently relocated from Essex and found myself a job at Mochdre Vets in the rehabilitation department as a veterinary physiotherapist and canine hydrotherapist. I have loved dogs for as long as I can remember, I was never allowed one growing up but after volunteering at a local kennels, I finally won my parents over in 2014 and found myself a rescue labradoodle. She has taught me so much and I love training her in obedience, agility and scentwork. When I discovered physiotherapy and rehabilitation for animals, I immediately knew that would be the career for me. After 4 years of studying, I graduated in 2022 with an Integrated Masters in Veterinary Physiotherapy and shortly after, completed both my level 3 and 4 certificates in Canine Hydrotherapy. I am loving living in the North and look forward to discovering new hiking routes, going rock climbing and of course treating your lovely canine companions!
Jo and Rory
Head Receptionist
Hi I’m Jo and I’ve been working on Reception since we opened in August 2017. I became Head Receptionist in September 2021. As we pride ourselves as a gold accredited cat friendly clinic, I recently completed my ISFM course as a cat friendly receptionist,
After leaving school (many years ago!!) I went on to do a 2 year Private Secretary Course. I then joined North Wales Police as a civilian, where I worked for 21 years. Putting my clerical skills and passion for animals makes this the perfect job for me.
One of the biggest highlights whilst Ive been working at Mochdre Vets was our trip to Malawi where we volunteered for two weeks at a local animal charity. This was an amazing experience which I’ll never forget.
I live at home with my husband Kevin and my mischievous Jack Russell Rory. We adopted Rory in 2016 from a rescue centre and he is a massive part of the family. I also have a 21 year old daughter Emily who has now flown the nest!!
