As most of you know I am deaf so please feel free to direct any complaints you have about the practice to me and I will gladly sleep through them.
Sarah with Pedro
Hello my name is Sarah, I was born in Ontario, Canada and brought up in Llandudno. From an early age I knew I wanted to be a vet and consequently went to the University of Liverpool and graduated in 2004. My main interests lie in emergency medicine and geriatric medicine. I have worked in the Llandudno area for the last 7 years and further a field as a locum before that and also in January 2012 I volunteered at Romanian Underdogs Rescue which is something I hope to repeat.
Aside from being a veterinary sugeon, I am also a member of British Veterinary and Sports Medicine Association (BVRSMA) and the Association of British Veterinary Acupuncturists (ABVA). I am also a qualified hydrotherapist.
I now live with my husband Lee, five rescue cats Fidget, Salty, Zippy, Loki and Grunt along with rescue dogs Pedro (pictured above) and ‘Baked Potato’ Bert, they all feature on this web-site somewhere.
When I’m not working as a vet (ha ha!) I enjoy walking the dogs (see here for our doggie friendly recommendations and walks), travelling, cooking, growing my own veggies and we recently rehomed 10 chooks from BHWT!
Hi, I’m Lowri, I’m a vet at Mochdre Veterinary Practice and I qualified from Glasgow University as a veterinary surgeon in 2002. I have worked in the North Wales area for the last ten years and prior to this I worked in busy trauma and charity hospitals in Birmingham. I have an interest in soft tissue surgery, anaesthesia and transfusion medicine.
In my spare time I’ve worked with the charity Pet Blood Bank on donation sessions in the North West over the last few years which I’ve enjoyed. I love everything about cats so I’m delighted that Mochdre Veterinary Practice is an ISFM (International Society of Feline Medicine) Gold Standard Cat friendly clinic. I’m a fluent Welsh speaker and l’m from the North Wales area originally. I enjoy hill walking, mountain biking, regular Pilates sessions and horse riding when I can. My young daughter and family cat Princess keep me busy and entertained.
Kelly and Tweak
Hi Im Kelly, Im one of the vets at the practice. I am originally from South Africa but have lived in North Wales for 3 and a half years with my partner. I am a series, movie and gaming addict but also love to paint, draw and walk my dog in my spare time. My own pets are a full time job with one naughty ball obsessed cross breed terrier (Tweak) and two demanding cats (Finn and Leelah). I also love to travel and use whatever time I have left to plan future adventures.
Hi, I’m Emily and I’m a recent graduate from the Royal Veterinary College. I’m originally from Norfolk, but am very used to moving around due to my Dad’s job in the RAF, which lead me to spend several years in Cyprus as a young child. This will be my first job as a New Grad, and I can’t wait to start working with everyone.
In my spare time I enjoy exploring my creative side with various craft projects, from crochet to sewing clothes, and can often be found singing along to my favourite musical. We’ve always had pets at home, ranging from various cats and dogs to a pet toad, and I’m often called upon by the family Labrador to crochet her new toys; she’s a very demanding critic, but tests them well!
Hi, I’m Lauren and I qualified as a Veterinary Surgeon in 2019. I studied Veterinary Medicine in Kosice, Slovakia after completing a Bioveterinary science degree in the UK. In 2019 I published a research paper on ‘Periodontal disease in association with systemic disease in the dog’. I particularly enjoy internal medicine but also love surgery. Prior to being a vet, I worked as a project coordinator at a medical publishing company.
In my spare time I enjoy walking the family dog Poppy, a Patterdale in the local area around Snowdonia and Colwyn bay. I also love to travel and spent a month in Fiji volunteering at a veterinary practice a few years ago. I also like to bake and spend time with family in my home town Chester.
Hi, I’m Natalie and I’m a Registered Veterinary Nurse at Mochdre Vets. I have worked in practice since 2007 and qualified in March 2015. I have a keen interest in zoo and exotic animals having worked as a keeper at the Welsh Mountain Zoo. Since starting at Mochdre Vets I have developed an interest in the rehabilitation care of animals, you can find me on a Thursday helping the rehab team with their cases. My interest in rehab has lead me to set up osteoarthritis clinics within the practice, I provide information on arthritis and offer support to owners with senior pets .
Hello my name is Nicola and I’m a Registered Veterinary Nurse. I qualified in 2019 at Harper Adams University and came to work at Mochdre Vets in 2020 whilst undertaking my Advanced Vet Nursing and Practice Management degree. Hi I’m Melody and I’m a receptionist/Animal care assistant here at Mochdre Vets. I’m originally from Texas, but got married and moved here. I’ve loved animals as long as I can remember and at the age of 11, I started my own pet sitting business. Over the years I have continued my education and experience with animals by working as a qualified vet nurse in Texas and Australia. My goal is to become at Registered Vet Nurse here in the UK as well. In my spare time I like to hang out with my husband Matt and my puppy Benji (who is quite a hand full!). I also like to read, and spend time outdoor either walking or soaking up the sun!
Hello I’m Martin and I’m Clive’s assistant at Mochdre Vets. I gained an Economics degree from the University of Liverpool and worked for 8 years at a small Welsh manufacturing company before moving to Australia for a year. On my return to the UK I began work at a practice in the north west of England. I was there for 17 ½ years before joining the team here at Mochdre in May 2020.
I live in North Wales with my wife, our fox red Labrador Theo and two cats Ebony and Robyn. In my time away from work I enjoy taking Theo for long walks on the beach, watching all kind of sport, listening to music and attending live concerts (in a vain attempt to cling on to my youth!).
Gwenan and Oscar
Head of Rehab / Physiotherapist
I have always had a passion for anatomy and physiology and combining this with my love of animals, a degree in Veterinary Physiotherapy was written perfectly for me. After graduating in 2017 from Harper Adams University I was lucky enough to join the Mochdre Vets team at an exciting and promising time, with their grand opening only a month away. Having lived in Anglesey most my life and being a fluent Welsh speaker it was great to come back to a local practice. The rehabilitation department is a passionate group and we provide a great selection of services that help animals in many ways. As a therapist, It allows me to continuously use my skills in a range of therapies. In addition I have Worked hard to complete my Level 3 in Small Animal Hydrotherapy and continue to learn about new techniques that can be applied to varies cases we treat.
Outside of work it’s safe to say my cockerpoo Oscar takes up most my free time. If it’s not going on a new adventure in Anglesey, it’s filming a new video for the Mochdre Vets Facebook page or even showing his skills in the pool on TV! Oscar’s still waiting for is ‘oscar’ for his performance on ‘Cefn Gwlad’.
Hello, my name is Hayley.
In May 2018 I moved from West Sussex, to North Wales, with my partner and our two daughters. I am a fully trained and qualified Small Animal Hydrotherapist, and for the five years preceeding our move to North Wales, I successfully both ran and managed a Small Animal Hydrotherapy Centre in West Sussex.
We had been looking at properties in North Wales for some time, when we happened to come across an amazing early 1700’s cottage on the mountain above Dwygyfylchi. We are now in the process of renovating the cottage and reinstating the gardens with the intention of becoming as ‘self sufficient’ as possible. We already have chickens, and a plan for bee hives in the pipeline, and we are in the process of creating both a vegetable garden and an orchard, all part of our plan for our family to live the dream in North Wales.
We have four dogs, two rabbits, eleven chickens and somewhere along the line we also became the proud owners of three Carneddau ponies.
