Microchipping
Microchipping is the best way to identify your pet should they escape or get lost and is the quickest way to reunite owner and animal as all vets, dog wardens and shelters have scanners to hand so they are able to contact you as soon as possible.
The microchip, approximately the size of a grain of rice is inserted under the skin and can be scanned using a hand held scanner, this will show a unique number which will be registered on a national database along with the owners contact details. We will register your pet for you when the microchip is implanted, though it is important that you update your contact information should they change.
Microchipping dogs became law in Wales in 2016 but we also recommend microchipping cats and rabbits in case they get lost.
If you’d like to get your pets microchipped then please contact one of our friendly receptionists who will make an appointment for you.
Remember, if you’re contact details change then you must update them on the national database, please contact us if you need help.
