About
2019 Update – we returned to Llyn Crafnant earlier this year and saw that the whole walk around the lake now requires your dog to be on a lead due to livestock (we haven’t visited the other walks since). While we understand why this is required, we can no longer recommend it as a dog friendly walk, but we are leaving this page here as it may still be of interest.
There are 3 marked walks from Llyn Crafnant, though our favourite is the circular route around the lake. It is approximately 2½ miles long and is flat with no steps and just a couple of kissing gates along the route. The car park is free and there are toilets available here.
Leave the car park and continue up the road for a short distance, you will soon arrive at the lake. As it’s a circular route it doesn’t matter which way you go from here though we always go up the right hand side via the gate. On the way back this is actually a road so it’s possible you may see some traffic. There is a section at the far end of the lake that is sheep country so please put your dog on a lead, this section is only short so he can come back off soon enough.
Although we’ve been here several times we are yet to try the cafe on the edge of the lake so can’t comment if it is dog friendly or not, however we did stop for lunch at The Old Ship and Pedro was welcome there.
How to get there
Take the B5106 from Conwy or Betws-y-Coed to Trefriw, then follow signs for Llyn Crafnant.
